We are delighted to have secured a permanent site for the Greenwich Free School in the heart of Greenwich. Over the coming months, we will be working the the Local Authority and Department for Education to ready the site for our inaugural intake.
Our site: Adair House
Adair House is a large building located at 403 Shooters Hill Rd, SE18 4LH, opposite the old Royal Herbert Hospital building. It has a large amount of outdoor space attached to it, including tennis and basketball courts, as well as the whole of Woolwich Common at the back! There are lots of bus routes that go up and down Shooters Hill Road, making it easy for our students to come to school by themselves as they become more independent.
The building is currently empty and we are working closely with the Department for Education and our technical advisors on plans to transform it into a school. It has a large number of rooms that are suitable for classrooms and offices, and it has a large space that would make a lovely assembly hall.
We do expect to be based in interim accommodation for part of our first year, but are confident that this will be be located at or very near our permanent site and will provide pupils with a location in which they feel safe and happy, and are able to have a completely normal school experience.
